Fundraiser to Take things to the next level and fix my painting arm

After 10 years of gradually getting worse my rotator cuff tore and needs to be repaired.  At the time of this Newsletter, the procedure is only days away. While the situation could be seen as a negative, I feel inspired by the opportunity to have a shoulder that is stronger than ever. Like many of you, I am a very busy person, and the idea of not being unable to paint or work or exercise easily for 2 months during the recovery, does not appeal to me.

Originally I had been planning on doing an entirely different fundraiser this FALL, to bring my artwork more out into the nation and world. If more than the $9-10,000 required to make this surgical repair happen is raised, then I could apply the additional towards up-leveling my professional art business to do just that.

My painting arm is an integral tool that I use to create beauty and magic in my fight for positive global change. Saving THIS painting arm means lighting one more candle against apathy. If this resonates with you, please help me in this fundraiser by doing two things: 1) contribute any amount you can, $5, $20, $50, $500;  and 2) pass my ask-for-help to other people you know who can do this too.  Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to yours.

Special thank to: KELLY GUAVA for doing the filming and BRITTANY AQUAMARINE for the Music!

Reception at JadeNow Gallery in Santa Barbara, July 31st

Great News! Yurik now has gallery representation!

The number of professional gallery spaces that show magical realism, spiritual, and visionary art in the United States is very small but growing. This is just another example that this amazing art genre and culture is finally gaining acceptance and appreciation by the mainstream.

The Art of Andrew Annenberg and Yurik Riegel will take place in Santa Barbara’s hottest new Gallery, Jade Now on Parker Way. The event, which runs from 7-10pm will feature presentations by both master artists earlier in the evening, followed immediately by a wine and cheese, 2 raffles, and a chance to meet Andrew and Yurik.

If you are in the area, or you are able to make it down to Santa Barbara, please join us for this very special evening.

Thurs, July 31 7-10pm

Yurik’s art at 2014 Wisdom 2.0 Conference

Look for Yurik’s art at the 2014 Wisdom 2.0 conference in the hall as you approach the main area.

The conference specifically wanted art that addresses the blending of tech and spirituality in our modern lives.  Yurik was an obvious choice.

Info on the conference:

The annual Wisdom 2.0 Summit addresses the great challenge of our age: how can we live connected to one another through technology in ways that are beneficial to our own well-being, effective in our work, and useful to the world?

This year’s outstanding lineup includes technology leaders and wisdom teachers including: Eckhart Tolle, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Byron Katie, Sharon Salzburg, Roshi Joan Halifax, Meng Tan (Google’s “Jolly Good Fellow”), singer and recording artist Alanis Morissette and executives from Google, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. More speakers continue to be announced.

Featured in the New York Times, Wired, Fast Company, Huffington Post, Financial Times, Forbes and many other business magazines, the Wisdom 2.0 Summit has sparked an ardent discussion in Silicon Valley and New York business circles of the value of mindfulness in our high-speed, interconnected age.

And more to be announced.

We try not to be the usual sit-and-listen conference — this is a think tank-style interactive gathering with hosted conversations, yoga rooms, enchanting decor, community-led break outs and more.

Join us for:

– Hosted Community-Led Conversations (engage directly with other participants on topics that matter to you!)

– Yoga and Meditation Rooms (stretch, move, and refresh yourself; or take an opportunity for quiet contemplation.)

– Participant-Led Break Outs (stay tuned for ways to submit your talk or program to be presented on our People’s Stage!)

– Interactive Parties (dance, consciously connect, and have fun together!)

– Optional Monday Intensives (spend all day Monday after the conference diving even more deeply into one important topic.)

– And many more ways to interact with other participants and make meaningful, lasting connections…

Wisdom 2.0 strives to bring this conversation to the world in an accessible, innovative, and inclusive way.

Yurik Asked to show at Wisdom 2.0!

A gathering of business leaders, health practitioners, entrepreneurs, wisdom teachers, and social change workers seeking to create lives, workplaces, and a society of deeper purpose and meaning.

This looks to be a rare event where people in positions of power will be exposed to conscious art. Very Exciting!

Wish me Luck!

The show will come down on saturday evening

Start off 2013 in an artfully magnificent way!  Stunning new recent works by painter Yurik Riegel and scupltor Damien Jones will be on display at the 2525 Gallery in Downtown Oakland the first Friday in January.
PLEASE NOTE: this will be during Oakland’s Month art crawl, the Art Murmur and the next day during the Saturday Art Stroll.

If you have not been to either, the friday night  art crawls are filled with lots of people, very lively, eccletic, and diverse crowds with much going on in the surround neighborhood and on the streets.  The Saturday Stroll is a more low key event for those not wishing to brave the crowds and tends to attract a more sophisticated art crowd. We would love to see you at either one!
The friday night art crawl starts at 6pm. Parking begins to be a little more difficult after 6:30, but there are parking lots and street parking can usually be found at 27th or above.
There will be two Raffles during the evening one at 7pm and one at 9pn ENTER THE RAFFLE to win some of my art later in the evening.

Virtually all galleries currently refuse to show visionary work — most art fans outside of the burning man/tribal scene have not yet had the opportunity to experience conscious art.   The stunning, innovative, and visionary art of Yurik Riegel is your chance to experience art rarely open to the mainstream public, at the First-Friday Oakland Art Murmur on March 2nd!

If you have not been to the Oakland Art Murmur recently, you are in for a real treat. It has come a long way in the last couple years and is really the unsung jewel in the crown of the East Bay art scene! Hundreds (if not thousands) of people from all ages and walks of life attend and it is truly becoming one of the hot beds of creativity in the Bay Area. This is a very festive way to take in some art, music, people watching, and food.

Come down, peruse the art in a dozen galleries and creative art spaces, enjoy wonderful crafts, people watch, drink free wine, sample the incredible food trucks, enjoy the busking musicians, AND (OF COURSE) come by the Body shop to endorse the cause. Support the art and visions you want in this world!

Anyone dressed in a way that mimics the style or essence of one of the characters in Yurik paintings will get a special prize. Contest entry is at 7:30pm. Prizes are at 8:30pm.

As always, Yurik likes to have an artwork raffle. This always generates excitement. Art will be raffled off at 7:45pm and 8:45pm. But you have to enter and be present to win!
