Virtually all galleries currently refuse to show visionary work — most art fans outside of the burning man/tribal scene have not yet had the opportunity to experience conscious art. The stunning, innovative, and visionary art of Yurik Riegel is your chance to experience art rarely open to the mainstream public, at the First-Friday Oakland Art Murmur on March 2nd!

If you have not been to the Oakland Art Murmur recently, you are in for a real treat. It has come a long way in the last couple years and is really the unsung jewel in the crown of the East Bay art scene! Hundreds (if not thousands) of people from all ages and walks of life attend and it is truly becoming one of the hot beds of creativity in the Bay Area. This is a very festive way to take in some art, music, people watching, and food.

Come down, peruse the art in a dozen galleries and creative art spaces, enjoy wonderful crafts, people watch, drink free wine, sample the incredible food trucks, enjoy the busking musicians, AND (OF COURSE) come by the Body shop to endorse the cause. Support the art and visions you want in this world!

DRESSING COOL HAS ITS PERKS.
Anyone dressed in a way that mimics the style or essence of one of the characters in Yurik paintings will get a special prize. Contest entry is at 7:30pm. Prizes are at 8:30pm.

As always, Yurik likes to have an artwork raffle. This always generates excitement. Art will be raffled off at 7:45pm and 8:45pm. But you have to enter and be present to win!

The Art conference in Hawaii was amazing.

Lots of big named artists in the world of visionary art were there (including yours truly). Beautiful setting (the Hilton Waikaloa); great speakers on the subject of global evolution and consciousness; and even the DJ Tipper spinning on Saturday night. Incredible!

A beautiful painting I started, inspired by the gorgeous setting and the event, I am calling Protector of the Light:

I was honored to find out, upon my return from a 10-day vipassana meditation retreat, that my art had been selected to grace the cover of the latest MAPS Bulletin.

MAPS, Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, is a 25 year old organization. Their mission is to develop psychotropics and marijuana into legal prescription medicines for therapeutic applications such as Glucoma and PTSD. They are active in developing and funding clinical trials with human subjects in accordance with guidelines set forth by the United States’ Food and Drug Administration, the European Medicines Agency, and the International Council on Harmonization (ICH/GCP). In the process, they are training therapists to administer psychedelic drugs in therapeutic settings. In essence, MAPS is actually a non–profit pharmaceutical reseach company.

MAPS also engages in efforts to educate people about the benefits and risks of psychedelics and medical marijuana. Whether or not you are someone who choses to use these substances, it is comforting to know that serious research is being done.

Tonight, August 6th, my work will be on display in the lower haight Ashbury Artwalk tonight , friday. it will be at P-kok Eden at 776 haight 7-11pm. they will be having a fun pre burning man event there this evening as well. Also A good number of my paper and Giclee canvas prints will be on display.

I have been painting this in a more classical style. I may take it in another direction, but i thought I should take a photo of it before I do that. This is a very close likeness of the lovely and talented Bay Area musician, Zahira. She’s about 5 ft-nothing of solid soul-sista’ sweetness and-dyno-mite! Check her out if you haven’t. This will likely end up on her upcoming CD release.
